By the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation Mykolaiv Access students had finished preparing English subtitles to the video which is of a great historical and cultural significance. The video-project “Museum-Memorial site of Memory and Reconciliation "Stalag 364" was made by Mykolaiv film-maker Eugene Tzymbalyuk.

During WWII Mykolaiv, the city in the south of Ukraine, was occupied by Nazi invaders. The former workers' settlement was as one of the largest concentration camps in the country. It was known as Stalag 364, which is responsible for than 30,000 deaths of the Ukrainian, Russian, Jewish, Romanians, and German soldiers and civilians. The area which hosted the camp is now in utter desertion and the citizens of the city hardly remember about these events.

The charitable foundation "Memory of the Holocaust Victims of the Village Bogdanovka" headed by Anatoly Mikhelson has developed the concept and the idea to organize a Park of Memory and Reconciliation in the place of the former concentration camp. It needs to be done in remembrance of the victims of the Second World War, aiming to overcome the dramatic void in history and to provide the conditions necessary for research and educational activity. We hope with our assistance the project will draw the attention of many international funds and organizations.
